Ernst Mittag is the chairman of the board at Denmark's largest nursery, Gartneriet PKM A/S, located on the island of Funen. He shares insights into the appointment of a new CEO, which is typically the most crucial hiring decision in a major company.

Did not know JobAdvice Management and Anni Kohl beforehand

I did not know Anni Kohl personally in advance, but we quickly initiated a close collaboration on finding a candidate who did not necessarily have a horticultural background, but significant sales and management experience in a related industry.

Anni Kohl already had a good reputation in our company, and with the appointment of a new managing director we wanted to achieve a slightly different profile than we would normally go for. In particular, the person should have knowledge of production processes, sales and a lot of management experience.

Anni Kohl's strength is that she gets to know the company from a-z, not only the business area, history and organisation, but also the strategy and the value base of the company. And not least the entire management team, thus precisely identifying the right management profile.

 

With innovative thinking in the search process, we found the perfect candidate

The search process was characterised by innovative thinking with the use of other and primarily digital media, such as banners in digital newspapers, than is normally used in the search & select industry, and in this way we found the perfect candidate.

In fact, the candidate field became really exciting and qualified in this way.

 

Great tests made us smarter

Subsequently, Anni Kohl introduced me to great tests that made us smarter, and conversations that, in the most trustworthy manner, directed us towards the right candidate.

Finally, I would like to add that we greatly appreciate that JobAdvice Management acts quickly and gets things done on time.

 

Competent assessment and great people skills

The final selection was largely influenced by Anni Kohl's assessments and great knowledge of people.

Since then, we have given Anni Kohl a new task, so yes, we will use Anni again, concludes Ernst Mittag.

And the result? We are very satisfied with that.
